Our Students’ Success

My Virtual Academy students thrive in school and beyond.

“I stopped going to school. I really wasn’t worried about myself. I was doing a lot of reckless things and  living out of my car. MVA has really opened a lot of doorways for me and MVA gives me the option to stay at home or work from the library or a friends house or wherever I’m comfortable and I’m grateful for that opportunity.”

“I came to My Virtual Academy because I was bullied out of my other school, like so bad that I got really really low and when I came to My Virtual Academy everyone was really friendly and all the teachers were helpful and it’s just like a giant family and I really liked it. And I’m glad to be graduating from them.”

“I had a couple stomach issues so during my 9th grade of high school I had to drop out. Having medical issues you’re in the hospital so you are missing a ton of school. With the computer it’s really easy having your computer there, you can read the lessons, you can listen to the lessons, it’s very helpful.”

“I was ejected from high school, senior year, 4 months before graduation. And there were a lot of things going on in my home life. My family was losing their home, I didn’t have anywhere to go. I was having to work to support them. The Virtual option gave me the ability to work when I needed to. I moved out, I was able to work full time and I could take my days off and get some parts of it done. And then I could take my day off and bust out 8 hours like it was a normal school day. So I was kind of given that little bit of leeway and it made me feel more in control of what I was doing and that made me feel empowered to get through it.”

“When I started off it was kind of hard and kind of scary. But some friends and the workers helped me get through it. They knew my family, they knew how I was so they helped me out and I want to thank them for that… If I can do it, you can do it too… When I leave here I am going to trade school to become a mechanical engineer.”

“I chose to transfer to online school my second semester of junior year. I was in such hard classes and I had a lot going on medically. I had brain cysts and I was hospitalized over 20 times. I was falling behind so fast in regular school and I really didn’t feel that my teachers were helping me enough even though I would see them all the time. And transferring to online school I feel like teachers I don’t even see in person, they really talk to me more. They’re connected with me, they care about how I’m doing and they always motivate me. I have a success coach, a mentor, a teacher and they’re so helpful.”

“My experience in this program was good. My teachers were helpful. They helped me do a lot of my classes. When I ran into difficult obstacles I just had to call them, they helped me with my classes, my work and some of my assignments. It’s a pretty good program all around.”
